Montreal police suspect they may be dealing with two cases of arson after a pair of fires broke out within hours of each other early Tuesday in the Plateau-Mont-Royal district.
The first incident occurred at a café bar on Saint Laurent Blvd. near Napoleon St. around 2:30 a.m., while the second fire was reported at 4 a.m. at a bar on Parc Ave. near St. Joseph Blvd. .
No injuries were reported.
Police said Tuesday morning that a preliminary investigation of both sites revealed the presence of flammable materials, suggesting the fires were deliberately started. The investigation continues.
