The interactive exhibit Addictions Don’t Discriminate aims to increase empathy and reduce stigma towards those experiencing addiction, create a better understanding of addiction, and provide information on supports and services available in Edmonton.

“Each story shared in this exhibit is a powerful example of the diverse experiences people with substance use problems face,” Chelsey Anseeuw, a social planner for the city of Edmonton, said in a news release.

“These personal stories can be effective tools for breaking down prejudice, building empathy, and creating an emotional connection with the storytellers. It is these emotions that will motivate each and every one of us to think about the role we can play in better supporting Edmontons who may be struggling. “
