A militant of the ‘comuns’ in Santa Coloma de Gramenet denounces sexual and labor harassment

  • The party applied the internal protocol for good treatment and shows respect for the judicial process in the presence of cross complaints

  • The city council considers the case “serious” and offers its support to the complainant, a temporary worker in the council

Carlos Rosales, a member of En Comú Podem and a member of the eventual trust regime of this political group in the city council of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, has denounced through his Twitter account that he has been subjected to “labor and sexual abuse” by “a member of the organization”, a former councilor of the party in the consistory, who has also denounced him. Rosales accuses the Catalan party leadership and the local leadership of questioning his version and harassing him. The party, in a statement, recalls that it has already activated the internal protocol for this type of case and shows respect for what justice decides.

Specifically, Rosales describes a process of “harassment, questioning, covering up, threats, vetoes from participating in spaces and revictimization” by the direction of the training. Organizations like PSUC Live, Republican Youth and the PCE of Asturias have shown their support for the militant. The party leadership announced this Friday that already in its day, months ago, when this case was detected, it activated the protocol of good treatment, and the corresponding commission issued a resolution -whose content is confidential- and offered psychological and legal advice guaranteeing confidentiality. In common, Podem now shows “maximum respect” for the judicial action since both Rosales and the alleged aggressor have crossed complaints.
