A Gatineau resident drowns in an Ottawa river


A 25-year-old man drowned Sunday morning in the Mississippi River near a town west of Ottawa, Ontario.

Lanark County police responded to the call near Blakeney around 9.45am Sunday morning.

However, the man was already dead when officers arrived at the scene.

The victim was identified as Pascal Bredin, 25, of Gatineau.

According to the police, the incident occurred in a “particularly agitated” section of the river. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the drowning.
