The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday tweeted a photo of a silver 2011 Nissan Quest with a California license plate 7HWF353. It is distinguished by a white circular sticker in the lower left corner of the rear window.
The baby, Brandon Cuellar, was inside a room while his grandmother unloaded groceries from her car on Monday. Cuellar was reported missing around 1 p.m.
The suspect was seen on video removing Cuellar from the apartment. On Monday, the FBI joined the search for Cuellar.
This is a breaking news update. Previous story below.
The suspect caught on video removing a baby from his San Jose apartment abducted the baby while his grandmother was unloading the groceries, police said at a news conference Monday.
“The baby was wearing a white jumpsuit with dinosaurs on it, long sleeves, that’s what we’re looking at right now,” said Sgt. Christian Camarillo of the San Jose Police Department.
Family members shared photos of the baby with ABC7 News. Officers say Brandon’s grandmother had taken him grocery shopping with her and the two had just returned home.
“She took the baby to the apartment, went downstairs to unload some groceries, and in that short amount of time someone entered the apartment,” said Sgt. Camarillo.
Police say the boy’s grandmother, who had been watching him while his mother was at work, called around 1 pm to report the boy had been taken. They say she took 3-month-old Brandon Cuellar into a bedroom while unloading groceries from his car. Officers say the baby was taken in just a couple of minutes.
Officers say the grandmother did not see the suspect enter the apartment.
VIDEO: SJPD gives update on 3-month-old boy kidnapped from home
Officers say at this point that the surveillance footage is all they have to go on and tell us that the family does not recognize the individual in the video. They say an Amber Alert has not been issued because there is no vehicle description to give.
Neighbors we spoke with reacted to the video.
“If you saw the video, he was walking around, with the mask on his jacket, he almost knew what he was looking for or knew what he wanted to do because he didn’t look around,” said Rachel Rosete, who lives nearby.
“I don’t remember ever seeing him around here before, but like I said, every once in a while we’ll run into someone I haven’t seen. Usually they’ll be riding their bikes,” Jerry Jaszkowski said.

Police say Brandon’s mother was at work when he was abducted. They say that Brandon’s father is currently incarcerated, but they did not give any more details about it, just saying that they will speak with him.
Officers making a desperate plea to the public Monday night.
“Today someone is walking with a 3-month-old baby that you didn’t have yesterday. If you have this baby, return it to its mother. We can deal with the consequences later. Whoever you are a mother or a father, you love nothing more than you love your son, this mother is going through a very, very bad time, just like the grandmother. The grandmother was left in charge of the baby and the baby is gone,” said Sgt. Camarillo.
