Windsor-Essex law enforcement organizations had hoped for responsible behavior on the roads on St. Patrick’s Day — but there were bound to be disappointments.

In LaSalle — where police had warned the community in advance that they would be monitoring for impaired driving — a RIDE program on Thursday resulted in two license suspensions.
The suspensions are for a period of three days.
LaSalle police said their RIDE program involved officers posted at three locations throughout the jurisdiction. A total of 11 roadside tests were conducted.
Meanwhile, in Windsor, police responded to a collision scene on Ottawa Street around 11:20 pm — between Benjamin Avenue and Langlois Avenue.
Following an investigation, a 46-year-old male was arrested and charged with impaired driving.
Police said the collision resulted in two people being taken to hospital for treatment — but there were no critical injuries.
Windsor police ask anyone who witnessed the incident to call traffic investigators at 519-255-6700 ext. 4000.
