Control Judge José Antonio Zúñiga Mendoza on Wednesday ruled that the former director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Emilio Lozoya Austin, in the North Recluse during the criminal proceedings over the Odebrecht case for which he is charged with alleged money laundering, bribery and criminal association.

After a unitary court ordered the controlling judge to hold a hearing this Wednesday to consider the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention against Emilio Lozoya, Judge Zúñiga Mendoza argued that flight risk remains, considering that the former official has adequate financial resources and a family support network.

In a virtual trial, the judge estimated that the conditions that originally served for the precautionary measures imposed on November 3, 2021, had not changed.

He refers to the fact that when Lozoya accepted the leadership of Petróleos Mexicanos, he stated in his asset statement that he had acted with his mother as the owner of a bank account. As well as from another bank account in Germany.

According to the FGR, Emilio Lozoya met the former director of Odebrecht in Mexico, Luis Alberto de Meneses Weyll, and favored him to obtain contracts for public works. And that in 2012, when he was part of a presidential campaign, the former director of Pemex received a $ 4 million payment from Meneses Weyll, “and he told him that if he won, he would get a position have that will allow him to provide.
