Another 652 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in British Columbia Amid New East Fraser Valley Restrictions | The Canadian News

Another 652 COVID-19 cases were reported in British Columbia on Tuesday, along with two additional deaths.

Of the new cases, 219 were in the Fraser Health region, 70 cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 162 in the Interior Health region, 82 in Island Health, and 117 in Northern Health.

A total of 316 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of 13 from Monday. The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care was unchanged at 141.

The two deaths bring the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 1,942.

The number of active cases in the province fell from 6,000 to 5,992.

Hours earlier, Provincial Health Official Dr. Bonnie Henry announced regional restrictions covering eastern Fraser Valley in Hope, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Mission and Agassiz-Harrison.

Henry said private gatherings will be limited to an additional five people or an additional household and 10 people outdoors, unless all are vaccinated.

Organized events such as weddings or conferences will be limited to 10 people, or 50 people outside, unless all are fully vaccinated, which can be verified in the province’s vaccination passport.

Henry also announced that people living in long-term care and assisted living will be offered a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine starting next week.
