The deficit of all public administrations, excluding financial aid, stood at 48,594 million euros until June, which means subtracting 21,377 million from the figure registered a year earlier. That is to say, 30.6% less, so it drops to 4.02% of GDP, according to data provided by the Ministry of Finance.
Regarding the state deficit Until the month of July, the figure stood at 3.98% of GDP, and decreased by 20.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, to 48,077 million euros.
This result is mainly due to the increase in non-financial income of 16.7% compared to the behavior of expenses, which grew at a rate of 2.5%.
Regarding the public deficit until June, that of the Central Administration brought together most of it with 35,187 million, 2.91% of GDP. Within this, the State deficit reached 35,334 million, which is equivalent to 2.92% in terms of GDP.
For their part, the Central Administration bodies registered a surplus of 147 million at the end of June, compared to the deficit of 841 million registered in the same period of 2020.
Social health expenditure
The Regional administration registered a deficit until June of 6,387 million, 17.7% less compared to last year, which is equivalent to 0.53% of GDP. This result is due to a 7.6% increase in income, higher than the 5.5% increase in expenses.
According to information from the autonomous communities, up to June 3,626 million correspond to the social health expenditure derived from Covid-19.
Regarding Social Security funds, the deficit stood at 7,020 million, 47% less than the 13,253 million registered in the first six months of 2020. In terms of GDP, the Social Security deficit stood at 0.58%, compared to 1.18% in the same period of the previous year.
This better behavior responds, according to the Treasury, to a slight decrease in revenue of 1.6% (although contributions grew 3.8%) compared to the greater decrease in expenses of 6.9%.
State collection
Regarding the data for the State deficit up to July, the better result is due, as already mentioned, to a 16.7% increase in non-financial income, compared to the lower increase in expenses, which grew by 2.5%.
Specifically, non-financial resources, which amounted to 112,445 million, which is 16.7% more compared to the same period of 2020, increasing taxes by 21.8% compared to July 2020, to 94,014 million.
Taxes on production and imports increased by 15.9%, of which VAT revenue grew by 18.2%. Current taxes on income and wealth rose 33.5% due to personal income tax, which increased by 33.4%, and the increase in Corporation Tax, which grew by 37.6%.
On the other hand, taxes on capital increased by 307.1%, compared to the same period of the previous year, while income from social contributions fell slightly, by 2.4%.
Regarding the non-financial expenses of the State, they stood at 160,522 million, a figure 2.5% higher than that registered in 2020.
