85% of City of Calgary Employees Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 Before Deadline – Calgary | The Canadian News

A vast majority of the City of Calgary’s workforce has been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to information released after the deadline for employees to disclose their vaccination status.

As of Nov. 1, 85 percent of the city’s 15,000 employees have been fully vaccinated and another five percent have been partially vaccinated.

Calgary Fire Department staff report a complete vaccination rate of 85 percent, and another three percent have received a dose.

The Calgary Police Service reports that 87 percent of its employees have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and four percent have started the vaccination course.

The remaining city employees are required to participate in a mandatory education program on COVID-19 vaccines, as well as submitting rapid antigen test results regularly. The city is providing home testing through December 1. After that, unvaccinated employees should be screened at approved providers on their own time and at their own expense.

“With the majority of employees now fully or partially vaccinated, we do not expect major service disruptions for Calgar residents, but we will work to minimize those that do arise,” said a city news release.

Emergency services, including police and fire, must not have service interruptions as a result of the City’s vaccination policy.

On Monday afternoon, the provincial government announced that Alberta had reached a new milestone: 80 percent of all eligible Albertans had been fully vaccinated and 87 percent had received at least one dose.
