It was information from the public that put the police on the trail of the elder.

The investigation that followed led the police to carry out four searches, two in Longueuil, one in Saint-Amable and another in Saint-Denis-de-Brompton, in Estrie.

“This operation aimed to dismantle a drug trafficking network that had been operating for many years,” Longueuil police said in a statement.

The searches led to the seizure of more than $35,000 in cash, 5 kg of cannabis, 134 grams of cocaine and 568 methamphetamine tablets.

A total of six suspects were pinned in the strike. They are four men and two women aged between 22 and 79 years.

They were all released on a promise to appear at a later date. They face charges of drug trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
