Among other tracks of interest is Paradise, featuring Timberlake’s former boy group ‘N Sync. Other guests include Fireboy, DML and Tobe Nwigwe. All I Thought It Was is the follow-up to 2018’s Man of the Woods. That album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Canadian and U.S. Top 200 Albums chart.

In comparison, Everything I Thought I Was entered the same chart in the number 17. The review aggregator site metacritic It earned a score of 51 based on 17 reviews. Not exactly a superstar point spread, but maybe AP News’ Maria Sherman He was right to assess the new album as “a pleasant, if often derivative, reminder of Timberlake at the peak of his powers.”

Since those powers made Timberlake a household name in his day, there’s no doubt that the singer still has formidable live appeal.

The Forget Tomorrow World Tour has featured segments with Timberlake’s expanded 11-piece band, Tennessee Kids, as well as DJ Andrew Hypes. No opening act has been announced for the Vancouver performance.

Here are five things you need to know before JT kicks off his final road show at Rogers Arena on April 29.

1 – Sexyback versus selfish: On FutureSex/LoveSounds’ 2006 hit single Sexyback, JT delights in giving himself over to his lover: You see these shackles, baby/ I’m your slave/ I’ll let you whip me/ If I misbehave.” In Selfish, he’s forced to admit that his toxic levels of male jealousy aren’t, you know, that radical: I want every bit of you / I guess I’m selfish / It’s bad for my mind / But I can’t. fight it. I’m sorry, but that kind of lyrical twist just brings something creepy to me.

2 – Return of ‘N Sync?: A long time ago, the boy band battle between the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync was often very close. As time went on, it became pretty clear that the Backstreet Boys were continuing to find new fans. Better Place, the first new ‘N Sync song in over two decades, featured in the 2023 film Trolls Band Together. It somehow disappeared on the soundtrack along with strictly JT-driven numbers like Brozone’s Back and Perfect. Everything I Thought’s new ‘N Sync collaboration Paradise does not appear on the reported setlists for this current tour. Will ‘N Sync come back?

3 – Trolls tour?: What’s included in the tour is Can’t Stop the Feeling! The big number from the Trolls soundtrack of 2016. With the accompanying official video, the feel-good song is as familiar as any Timberlake has released. Maybe a Trolls tour is in the works? What could be better than a tie-in product going back to most people’s childhood with a presenter from the parent era to today’s twenty-somethings and their kids?

4 – The man out of the forest: Timberlake’s last album, Man of the Woods, was propelled as a rootsy turn by the Tennessee-born former Mouseketeer. It turned out to be another platinum-selling release from the singer, but it wasn’t the preemptive strike on the burgeoning world of country music it could have been. That being said, this reviewer noted that the acting was another Happy and danceable production by Timberlake.. Fans are likely expecting an experience without paintings or fake bonfires, full of costumes and style, and it seems like they’re getting just that.

5 – JT docu-something: Actor and filmmaker Fisher Stevens, who recently appeared in Succession and Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, directed Timberlake in the 2021 Apple+ drama Palmer. He’s gone in the record about filming some of the shows from the Everything I Thought I Was tour for a possible film or docuseries about the singer. Given the popularity of musical series ranging from Jon Batiste’s American Symphony to Kid Laroi’s The Kids Grow Up, and movies like the Amy Winehouse story told in Back to Black and Bob Marley: One Love, it makes sense.
