When: January 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Vogue Theatre, 918 Granville St., Vancouver

Tickets: $45 (plus fees) on admintone.com

British Columbia comedians Dan Quinn and Erica Sigurdson, as well as Albertans Pete Zedlacher and Paul Myrehaug, perform as part of the 15th Snowed In Comedy tour. The tour makes 70 stops from coast to coast, braving Canadian winter conditions to make people laugh. Quinn is the creator of the tour, Sigurdson is a regular on CBC’s The Debaters, Myrehaug is the winner of the Great Canadian Laugh Off and Zedlacher has been nominated six times for Canadian Comedian of the Year at the Canadian Comedy Awards.

Hong Kong Exile presents Heaven FM as part of Hold On Let Go from January 23 to 27 at Russian Hall. sun

Formerly known as PushOFF, Hold On Let Go is a showcase of experimental work. This year, the event that celebrates its 14th anniversary is divided into two programs. The first features new works by Hong Kong Exile, Mardon and Mitsuhashi, Amy Amantea, Lara Kramer and Adrienne Wong. Second part, from January 30 to February 30. 2, is dedicated to a double bill of news from Compañía 605 and Theater Reemplazo, the festival’s presenters. Additionally, Hold On Let Go will host talks from artists, mixologists and a town hall (January 27 at 12pm).

Companies from Manila, Atlanta, Los Angeles, the United Kingdom and Toronto converge for the inaugural edition of The Heat, a showcase of improvisational comedy. Presented by The Improv Centre, the event features artists from across ICT working alongside visitors on short games, an all-play and an ending. Visiting teams will also demonstrate their improvisation styles on their own.

Discovery Day is a free, family-friendly, interactive earth science activity day with hands-on activities for all ages. Activities include panning for gold, flying drones, touching rocks, and experiencing virtual reality environments. Geologists and mascots Buddy the Miner and Better the Miner will be on site. Face painting, spinning balloons, and popcorn and cotton candy will also be available.

International Guitar Night

When: January 25

Now in its 24th year, the traveling guitar festival features four musicians going solo and performing together. Guitarists include acoustic rock performer Luca Stricagnoli (Italy); Thu Le (Vietnam); Marco Pereira (Brazil); and Minnie Marks (Australia). Marks is a blues slide guitarist making her North American debut as part of this tour.
