4 out of 10 Mexicans have wages that are not enough to eat

Although a large part of the jobs in Mexico have already been recovered, their precariousness persists. During the third quarter of 2021 a rate of working poverty of 40.7%, which implies that almost half of the workers in the country cannot pay the food basket with their wages, according to figures from the Coneval.

This rate was 0.8 points higher than that of the previous quarter; This could be explained because although we are already in the process of post-crisis Covid-19 recovery, inflation has put significant pressure on the purchasing power of labor income.

In fact, in Mexico and the world, the price of certain staple foods has reached double-digit growth.
