4 bottles for sparkling parties

  • Christmas they ask for little bubbles. They can be cava (typical) or beer (as long as it is special). Here are four good examples that will cheer your palate

Christmas is a holiday and there is no drink that better accompanies these days than sparkling ones, be they cava or beer (If this is special, of course). That is why we have chosen a pair for each drink. Welcome the bubbles.

Rosé Delicat (Vilarnau Cellars)

The organic cava Vilarnau Rosé Delicat de Vilarnau has received the distinction of the Food Award of Spain for the Best Wine awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. This Brut Rosado Reserva Ecológico is made mainly with red varieties of Grenache and a little touch of pinot noir.

The result is a pale pink cava, of great aromatic complexity, very creamy, fresh and elegant. It is suitable for vegans and is perfect to accompany rice, pasta or creamy desserts. It is also the best option to enjoy it in appetizers. It costs € 12.15.

Mirgin Exeo 2016 (Alta Alella)

This is an ecological Qualified Area cava from the Vallcirera Area, located in the Serralada de Marina Natural Park, in the Maresme region. It is made only when the vintage is exceptional and goes on sale without the need for any ‘makeup’ (no expedition liquor) to preserve its freshness and natural characteristics to the maximum. It is made with the selection of the best organic grapes from Vallcirera pansa blanca and chardonnay. The ‘méthode traditionnelle champenoise’ has been applied with an optimal aging period on lees – with a cork stopper – that lasts to a minimum of 60 months.

The 2016 vintage was marked by a severe drought during the vegetative period, which caused a reduction in the size of the grape, with a consequent decrease in production and an increase in concentration. A small harvest, of very good quality, with exceptional health, excellent maturation and great aging potential. It costs € 55.

Christmas Beer (Damm)

A beer with a lot of character, limited edition, conceived to pair with a forceful gastronomy, typical of Christmas, such as a honeyed veal cannelloni with ‘foie’ sauce and parmesan or a stuffed turkey with potato and truffle parmentier. Oak in color with orange reflections, it is dense and bright, with a toasted chromatic layer. The foam is compact and has live, fine and fast bubbles.

The aroma is of great intensity and complexity: the first notes are fruity, like ripe peach and apple; also orange that endow the nose with freshness. Enjoy a clean nose, in which the feeling of toast persists at the end. The entry into the mouth is wide, with character. Voluminous and creamy. The bitterness of the hops gives an intense refreshing sensation. Its consumption is recommended between 5 and 7ºC. It costs € 2.10 (66 cl).

Honey and anise beer (La Sagra)

La Sagra is used to creating seasonal beers, and at Christmas she could not miss the appointment with this honey and anise. It is a toasted beer made with water, barley malt, hops, local honey harvested in the mountains of Toledo, grain anise and yeast.
