3 Guelph Storm games this week postponed due to OHL’s COVID-19 protocol – Guelph | The Canadian News

The Ontario Hockey League announced that three Guelph Storm games this week have been postponed due to the league’s COVID-19 protocol.

The game between Guelph Storm and Windsor Spitfires, scheduled for Wednesday night, has been canceled.

It is the second time the showdown has been called off after the original game on December 30, 2021 was also postponed amid a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Storm’s game on Friday against Owen Sound Attack and Saturday’s rematch at Owen Sound were also postponed.

Recovery dates were not announced, but the league rescheduled a postponed game against the Erie Otters from December 17 to March 13.

The news of the games’ suspension comes after the league announced that it would continue the 2021-22 season despite new COVID-19 restrictions issued by the Ontario government.

Those orders include a ban on fans from viewing the games in person at OHL stadiums based in Ontario.

“The OHL is currently in talks with the government and public health and will have more updates in this area in the very near future,” the league said in a statement released Wednesday.

The Storm’s next game is scheduled for January 13 when they visit Windsor to play the Spitfires.
