A spokesperson for Ambulance New Brunswick confirmed that on Tuesday, August 24, at around 5:30 p.m., those eight ambulances were parked outside the emergency room.

He said five were awaiting discharge and another had just arrived, while the remaining two were scheduled patient transfers.

Ambulance New Brunswick said unload delays are an ongoing problem; they remain concerned about the overall impact.

“We know that our partners in healthcare are working to find solutions to this ongoing challenge,” the company said.

The Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center is not the only hospital that experienced delays in discharge.

Ambulance New Brunswick provided the unload delay times for August. Moncton Hospital has consistently double-digit discharge hours, while Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital is consistently between adolescence and low single-digit digits. Saint John Regional Hospital has similar hours.

Horizon Health Network also issued several public service announcements this week advising the public. He said he did not go to the emergency rooms in Saint John, Moncton, Fredericton and Miramichi because they were “extremely” busy.
