President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden arrived at Windsor Castle this Sunday afternoon, where they met with Queen Isabell II.
Wearing aviator sunglasses, Biden stood with Elizabeth under a tent as they were greeted by the Honor Guard. He later participated in an inspection of the guards by himself, before the group entered Windsor Castle for afternoon tea, which was closed to the media.
As they strolled, Biden carefully avoided walking in front of the queen, a misstep committed by his predecessor, which generated a viral video and a mild alarm over the violation of royal protocol.
Biden is the thirteenth president of the United States that the queen has known in the past seven decades, and he is the fifth to be received at Windsor Castle.
The two first met in November 1982, when Biden, then a US senator from Delaware, traveled to the UK for a meeting of the British-American Parliamentary Group and participated in an audience with her, the White House reported Sunday, according to the records available.
