2 men charged in connection to death of Six Nations woman found in Humber River

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection to a homicide investigation after a Six Nations woman’s body was found in the Humber River last March, according to the Six Nations Police Service (SNPS) on Tuesday in a release.

56-year-old Ruth Anne Longboat of Six Nations Reserve was found dead the morning of March 8 in the Humber River, south of Dundas Street West. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been collaborating with the SNPS in the investigation, the statement said.

The SNPS said 23-year-old Michael Joseph of Brantford and 23-year-old Jayden Elijah of London have been charged with first degree murder and indignity to a body.

Police say Joseph and Elijah attended court on June 7 and remain in custody.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone who has information about what happened to Longboat is asked to contact OPP, SNPS, or Crime Stoppers.
