15-year-old victim identified after triple stabbing at North York high school

A 19-year-old man was charged with the second-degree murder of 15-year-old Maahir Dosani at the Victoria Park Collegiate Institute on Tuesday afternoon.

Dosani was found outside the school around 3:05 p.m. with a stab wound to the torso and pronounced dead at the hospital around 7 p.m., according to Toronto police. Press release.

Police have said there was a fight in the track area in front of a large group of students.

A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were also found with stab wounds and both were taken to hospital. Both were stabbed in the lower body, police said.

19-year-old Ahmed Rafin was arrested near the Far East High School in 15 Wallingford Rd., according to the statement, and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police have not released a description of the weapon that was used.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who has photos or videos taken around or at the time of the stabbing.

Grief counselors are at school today, as are neighborhood officers from the 33rd Division.

“There was a great group of students who saw what happened,” Toronto District School Board spokeswoman Shari Schwartz-Maltz said Wednesday morning, adding that a lot of information was provided yesterday. Staff also participated in the assistance “in the middle of the altercation,” he said.

“Maybe today is not a day where the focus is on math, maybe today is a day where you support each other,” he said.
