15 reasons to participate in the recall

Various reasons have been given for not participating in the referendum on the Revocation of the Mandate on April 10, such as that it is a useless exercise, that nobody is asking for it, that it is expensive, a simulation invented by President López Obrador and Morena to consolidate , that he is not going to get 40% participation, that he is going to win it and there is no way to beat him, that if he wins it he can seek re-election and for all this, the best thing is to leave him empty and fail.

I want to acknowledge that in all the organizations of which I am a part, the majority is against participating and that despite the fact that I agree with several of their arguments, I think that since it is going to take place, it is necessary to participate by the following reasons:

1. The government and the country are doing poorly and there are still 30 months left in the six-year term and we must not remain silent in the face of the failure of their “4T”, the consultation is an opportunity to express our rejection.

2. Many people want to vote and it is illogical that parties and politicians are promoting abstention. The call not to vote is a decision of the leadership, far removed from the majority of the people’s desire to participate.

3. The INE is called to vote and it is contradictory that intellectuals, analysts and politicians are calling for abstention.

4. Most people do not understand why people are being called not to vote when they are always insisted on going to vote.

5. It is said that abstention is a way of participating, a lie, you cannot not vote and say that you are participating.

6. The opposition gives the image of being afraid of López Obrador and Morena and that they are invincible and there is no way to stop them.

7. The government and Morena are carrying out, outside the law, a house-to-house campaign spreading the president’s achievements, while the opposition is silent, losing the opportunity to make people see the dismal results of López Obrador’s presidency.

8. Surely the question about the ratification of López Obrador is going to win in the consultation, but if he is called to participate, he could get a scare.

9. There will be more votes in favor of the Revocation of López Obrador’s Mandate if we participate than if we do not.

10. López Obrador, whatever happens, is going to criticize the INE and is going to blame the anti-democratic conservatives for boycotting the consultation, especially if we call for not participating. One way to support the INE is by participating.

11. After the consultation, it is very likely that López Obrador’s popularity will grow due to the house-to-house campaign, while the opposition is doing nothing more than calling for them not to participate.

12. It is said that after the referendum, if he wins overwhelmingly, he will seek re-election, false in Mexico much blood was shed against any attempt at continuity.

13. You have to see the consultation in relation to the 2024 elections and it is an opportunity to open people’s eyes to how badly the government is doing and the failure of López Obrador.

14. The referendum is the last opportunity we have before the 2024 elections to launch a national campaign to gain space for López Obrador and Morena.

15. In politics, the only way to win space and advance is by participating and fighting, not marginalizing yourself and abstaining.
