10 products with the highest price increase in the first half of October: INPC

The level of consumer prices continues with significant pressure in Mexico and the world, especially in the energy sector. During the first fortnight of October 2021, the interannual inflation rate stood at 6.12% on a national scale.

For its part, in immediate comparison with the previous fortnight, the National consumer price index (INPC) registered an increase of 0.54 percent.

These are the products whose price increased most strongly by pressing the INPC:

  1. Electricity * (+ 18.8%)
  2. Nopales (+15.1%)
  3. Air transport (+11.4%)
  4. Onion (+ 9.7%)
  5. Professional services (+ 7.3%)
  6. Tourist services in package (+ 4.9%)
  7. LP domestic gas (+4.4%)
  8. Egg (+ 2.0%)
  9. Automobiles (+ 0.6%)
  10. Own home (+ 0.1%)

* The increase in electricity prices has a seasonal effect due to the end of the summer, which means the suspension of the subsidy for this service in the cities of Mérida, Monterrey, Acapulco, Torreón, Veracruz, Villahermosa, Tampico, Monclova, Chetumal, Iguala , Tepic, San Andrés Tuxtla, Campeche, Tehuantepec, Cd. Acuña, Cancun, Coatzacoalcos and Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

On the other hand, the products that registered a drop in their price level:

  1. Ejotes (-14.8%)
  2. Tomato (-11.8%)
  3. Orange (-10.7%)
  4. Lemon (-6.8%)
  5. Zucchini (-5.8%)
  6. Avocado (-5.5%)
  7. Skin creams (-2.4%)
  8. Lettuce and cabbage (-2.2%)
  9. Chicken (-1.4%)
  10. Magna type gasoline (-0.1%)
