Weather in the US complicates booster vaccination against Covid-19 for educational personnel in Mexico

The Health Secretariat reported on Wednesday night that the booster vaccination of educational personnel scheduled to start next Saturday, January 8, was postponed due to the fact that the shipment with biologicals from the Moderna pharmaceutical company will arrive in Mexico with delay due to the weather conditions in the United States.

The agency explained in a statement that it will soon announce the new start date for immunization.

It should be remembered that last Monday, the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer, announced the application of Covid-19 vaccines of reinforcement, from Modern Pharmaceuticals, to 2.7 million people in the education sector.

The official explained that the application of this dose will be carried out in two stages, 16 states and then in the remaining 16, without specifying in which ones the campaign would begin.

As of Tuesday, January 4, the federal government reported that 191,455 vaccines were supplied throughout the country, so the total doses applied since the National Vaccination Plan began increased to 149 million 574,164.

Of the 82 million 114,490 people inoculated against Covid-19, 72 million 979,978 already have the complete scheme of one or two doses depending on the type of biological applied. Meanwhile, 9 million 134,512 have half a scheme.
