Relatives of victims of disappearance in Mexico, as well as social organizations, demanded that the federal government, specifically President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, publicly accept the recommendations issued by the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) at the national level during a morning conference .

The Movement for Our Disappeared in Mexico, through Grace Fernández, spokesperson and leader of the collective, stated that said request is part of the demand of the families of the victims due to the lack of institutional responsibility at all levels to give results in the Search and location of your loved ones.

The observation of the CED was highlighted, which emphasizes that the passive attitude of the government in the face of a pattern of disappearances at the national level is a way of tolerating disappearances and omissions that result in the permanence of impunity, in addition to reiterating the responsibility that it must adopt. this government for the search and location of the disappeared persons, leaving aside the discourse that they are inherited cases.

Due to the above, the Movement for Our Disappeared demanded that the Mexican government respect and accept the recommendations made by the Committee as a step to address the humanitarian crisis that Mexico is experiencing due to the disappearance of people.

Points to prioritize

The Movement called on the government to prioritize at least four points in the CED report, including those related to the lack of responsibility on the part of the institutions; attend to unjustified delays in the application of the law and justice; put aside the militarization of public security and the lack of resources for searches, as well as improve the management of biometric data of families and remains found.

Grace Fernández also highlighted the urgency of addressing the crisis of disappearances in the country, expressing that while from November 15 to 26, the date on which the CED made its visit to our country, in that month a daily average of 10 disappearances was recorded forced into the country.
