The Mossos have arrested three people who organized at least 25 illegal block parties during the restrictions due to the pandemic in rural houses in Catalonia without paying the corresponding rents and without the consent of the owners, and it is estimated that they swindled about 200,000 euros.

The alleged perpetrators, released with charges after going to court on April 8, are members of a criminal group that skipped the health and mobility restrictions imposed by the pandemic in 2021, The Mossos have reported this Wednesday in a note.

Police sources have explained to Efe, in addition to the crimes of fraud and false documents that are imputed to them, Complaints have also been processed against those accused of holding this type of event without having administrative authorization, and for non-compliance with health regulations in prevention of covid-19.

The alleged scammers contacted those responsible for the homes or service companies, they hid their identity with false information, and they gave copies of other people’s documentation or they used a third person as an intermediary, who was unaware of the detainees’ intention.

Payments to owners or service companies did not occur, but the alleged scammers sent a fake bank transfer receipt and they made them believe that due to the proximity to the weekend they would not receive the amount until after a few days.
