The Generalitat will attend the previous meeting of the conference of presidents

The ‘counselor’ of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà, will participate on Friday in the preliminary preparatory meeting for the summit of regional presidents which is scheduled for January in La Palma (Canary Islands), as this newspaper has learned. In the appointment of Friday the autonomies will be represented by the respective advisers of the presidency who are the ones who must determine the order of the day. Vilagrà’s presence in Madrid on Friday does not mean, however, that the participation of Pere Aragonès in the summit since, according to sources from the Government, this will depend, precisely, on the agenda, that is, on the issues to be discussed.

The last meeting of regional presidents with the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, took place in August in Salamanca and Aragonès was the only absent leader. The next appointment was scheduled for the month of December, but finally Sánchez himself announced, this weekend, that it was delayed until the beginning of 2022.

Vilagrà’s trip to Madrid will come just four days after the unrest created in the republican part of the Government by the words of the deputy of Junts, Joan Canadell, who, in the plenary session of budgets, accused Aragonès and ERC of attempting an “autonomist turn” . And just the day that the state budget pact between the government and ERC was announced.

Application of the agreement

The Government, on the other hand, approved this Tuesday a battery of measures to comply with the budget agreement with the ‘commons’. Thus, the needle of the tax on port emissions from large ships was put to the needle, the program for the design and creation of public energy and approved the creation of the temporary program of the office of the pilot plan of universal basic income.
