The AIFA foresees a period of 14 years for its full consolidation

The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) estimated that it will be in 2036, 14 years after its inauguration, when the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) will become a consolidated entity in terms of total quality for the provision of airport services, complementary and commercial, becoming a national and international paradigm of safety, efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability and profitability.

In the institutional program 2021-2024 of the majority state-owned company Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles SA de CV, it is specified that the terminal will be an example of modernity and functionality for the benefit of national and foreign passengers and air cargo.

In addition, it will stand out among the best airports in the world for its high standards of efficiency and quality of service, a source of pride for all Mexicans.

“In its first phase, AIFA will have the capacity to meet a demand of 19.5 million passengers and 470,000 tons of air cargo annually. When it reaches its last phase of construction projected for the year 2050, this airport will move 85 million passengers and three million tons of air cargo annually ”, detailed the agency.

Without referring to the way in which national and international airlines will be invited to use the new structure, it was specified that the airport management will be in charge of preparing the Master Development Program to maintain an adequate balance, in line with growth. forecast of the demand for air transportation services (operations, passengers and cargo) and of establishing the strategies for the administration, operation or exploitation of the aerodrome.

In the document published this week in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the Sedena detailed that prior to the beginning of the construction of the airport 34 formal studies were carried out to determine the economic, technical, environmental, and archaeological feasibility, and accompanying studies were carried out. and accompaniment in execution.

Therefore, the work was technically, legally, socially and financially viable, thereby guaranteeing its air operations jointly with the airports of the metropolitan area of ​​Mexico City.

Bet on commercialization

According to the agency, there are five priority objectives to be met in the institutional program of the current government:

Contribute to the development of the country’s airport industry, promote the leasing of all commercial spaces and the provision of airport, complementary and commercial services, provide airport services with quality and availability for the benefit of customers and users, prepare planning strategy that supports decision-making and administering and conducting processes and actions for effective and efficient compliance with applicable legal regulations, policies and guidelines.

On the second point, there is pressure to “announce the availability of premises under the principles of honesty, transparency, equality, legality, without discrimination and under the same conditions and circumstances.”
