Police received multiple 911 calls about gunshots around 6:50 p.m. When they arrived at the scene on Roy St. at the corner of Rivard St., they found a 17-year-old man suffering from upper body injuries.

He was conscious when paramedics began treating him, but his condition appears to have worsened and he was deemed critical shortly after he was taken to hospital.

“One or more suspects fled the scene and police are trying to apprehend them,” said Montreal Police Officer Julien Lévesque.

Canine units have been dispatched, officers have interviewed witnesses and surveillance camera footage will be examined, Lévesque said. Roy St. was closed while police conducted their investigation.
