In Manitoba, the major blizzard will hit several areas by Thursday evening, forcing the closure of dozens of schools on Wednesday as well as certain roads in Winnipeg and the south of the province.

According to Environment Canada, which has issued several alerts, intense snow and sometimes heavy blowing snow will intensify by Thursday, as temperatures drop, causing wind chill.

The airlines Air Canada and WestJet have announced the cancellation of several flights, while the authorities have asked the population to limit or altogether avoid non-essential travel.

Southern Saskatchewan has already “tasted” this blizzard since late Tuesday night, when the storm is expected to leave up to 50 centimeters of snow by Friday, according to forecasts from the federal agency.

Ontario will also be affected by the blizzard which will follow its trajectory into southern Quebec, with its share of precipitation, mainly rain, since the mercury is comfortable.
