According to Environment Canada, up to five centimeters of snow is expected on Tuesday morning, particularly in the higher elevations of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Anmore.

“The snowfall accumulation will be highly variable and dependent on precipitation rate, and surface and air temperature. Current forecast guidance suggests the potential for near five centimeters of snow,” the agency reported on Monday evening.

The seasonally unusual event is due to a cold and unstable air mass over the south coast of BC

The low pressure system will draw in moisture that could result in snow and hail flurries similar to Sunday’s weather across the Lower Mainland. The Lower Mainland stretches all the way to Hope.
