Most of the province is preparing for severe winter conditions. Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting significant snowfall and fierce winds for Saskatoon and Regina beginning Tuesday.
Environment Canada stated that a winter storm warning is now being issued for Saskatoon and the area.
“A winter storm that brought heavy snow and freezing rain last night continues today. A low pressure system moving into the Region will bring heavy snowfall to parts of central Saskatchewan today and tonight, ”according to Environment Canada.
“A break from the heavier snow is expected today before the next swath of heavy snow between this afternoon and tonight.”

Environment Canada states that the snow band will produce 6 to 12 inches of snow, with higher amounts possible by Tuesday night.
This afternoon, the winds will strengthen, with gusts of between 60 and 90 km / h, reducing visibility in the blowing snow.
Saskatoon is expected to see reduced visibility in snow blowing with wind gusts approaching 90 km / h. The snow will end early Wednesday.
“Fortunately, we are not facing a storm like the one we experienced last year,” said Goran Saric, Director of Highways, Fleet and Support for the City of Saskatoon, in a press release. “However, there will still be a lot of snow and high winds creating challenging driving conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
As for Regina, rainy conditions are anticipated for today, followed by strong winds and snow starting this morning, diminishing on Wednesday night.
“You will have to check the direct line of the freeway because traveling will be dangerous,” said meteorologist Peter Quinlan. “The winds are going to have a great impact as the snow falls, we are going to see zero visibility conditions, almost blizzard-like.”
