Rihanna ‘will not be ashamed’ of her pregnant body on the cover of ‘Vogue’

Rihanna is on a mission to redefine pregnancy.

The platinum-selling artist and successful entrepreneur appears on the latest cover of Fashion, with her pregnant body in sight. In the number, she talks about her pride in her changing body.

“I hope that we have been able to redefine what is considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women,” she says. “My body is doing amazing things right now, and I will not be ashamed of it. This time it should feel like a celebration. Because why should you hide your pregnancy?

She adds: “When I found out I was pregnant, I thought, There’s no way I’m going shopping in any maternity aisle. Sorry, it’s too much fun to dress up. I’m not going to let that part go away because my body is changing.”

Speaking about her relationship with ASAP Rocky, the 34-year-old singer says: “People don’t easily get out of the ‘friend’ zone with me and it certainly took me a while to get over how well I know him and how much he knows me, because we also know in How much trouble can we get into each other?

Rihanna also reveals that she and Rocky weren’t specifically trying to get pregnant, but they welcomed it.

“I wouldn’t say ‘planning.’ But certainly not planning against it,” she explains. “I don’t know when I ovulate or any of that kind of shit. We just have fun. And then she was there at the test. I wasted no time. I called him inside and showed it to him. Then I was at the doctor’s office the next morning and our journey began.”

The artist adds: “I always thought it would be marriage first, then a baby, but who the hell says it has to be like that. I’m certainly not going to let that get in the way of being a mother.”

Figuring out how she’ll manage her busy life while having a child is one of the many things Rihanna is currently focused on.

“Balance is one of my biggest challenges and always has been. And now there’s another human being coming into play, it changes what that means again,” she says. “Still, I have businesses that are not going to work alone. My mom managed all three of us without even approaching the amount of resources that I have, so I absolutely can do it. What does she look like? I’m not sure.”

When asked what she looks forward to most from motherhood, Rihanna reveals, “You’re going to teach me more than I could ever teach you. And I want them to go for it. I want to see who they are in the world, who they become. Because I’m just here to keep you on the rails, a passenger as much as the driver.”

As for the fans waiting for her first album since 2016 Anti, the artist says: “I am looking at my next project in a completely different way than the way I wanted to present it before. I think it suits me better, much better. It’s authentic, it’s going to be fun for me and it takes a lot of pressure off me.”
