That’s 13 percent more than the 701 reported on Friday. Quebec’s 7-day average for daily COVID-19 cases is now 706. There are 600 active outbreaks in the province.

There have been five new deaths in the last 24 hours, Santé Québec also said. Some 301 people are currently being hospitalized for COVID-19, an increase of three from Friday’s count. Of the latest number, 90 patients are in intensive care, an improvement of one.

Among those newly diagnosed, 567 were either not vaccinated or received their first dose less than 14 days ago. Another 36 had received only one dose and 192 of those who tested positive had received two doses. The government notes that those who are not vaccinated are 8.5 times more likely to be infected than those who have received two doses.

More than 16,000 additional doses of vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours, including 5,169 first doses. This means that 89 percent of the Quebec population has received a first dose, while 83 percent have received two doses.
