New Brunswick Officials to Hold COVID-19 Vaccine Informational Meeting for Children – New Brunswick | The Canadian News

New Brunswick health officials will hold a press conference Tuesday morning to discuss the province’s plan to vaccinate children ages five to 11 against COVID-19.

The event begins at 11:30 am and will be broadcast live here. The Minister of Health, Dorothy Shephard, and the Medical Director of Health, Dr. Jennifer Russell, will participate, along with a pediatrician.

The province has previously said that it will receive its first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine for children on Tuesday and expects to administer the first doses by the end of the week.

Approximately 54,500 children will be eligible to receive the vaccine.

The vaccines will be carried out through community clinics and pharmacies of the regional health authorities.

As of Monday, 87.5 percent of eligible New Brunswick residents are fully vaccinated and 93.4 percent have received their first dose.
