Lots of rain in the Upper Laurentians

The Hautes-Laurentides region still received a lot of rain on Tuesday, after being hit by a series of low pressure systems in the past few days.

According to Environment Canada, the storms of the past 24 hours dumped 45 millimeters of rain in three hours on Tuesday evening, and about 70 millimeters in 24 hours along an axis from Mont-Laurier to Saint-Jérôme.

This large amount of precipitation created landslides and flooding in Lac-Saguay, about thirty kilometers from Mont-Laurier. “The floods affected residences and led to road closures,” added the federal agency.

More rain is expected in the region Wednesday evening, with between 15 and 25 millimeters expected, according to Environment Canada. Part of the Saguenay region could also be affected by the repercussions of these disturbances. Between 10 and 20 millimeters are expected in the sector.
