Less passengers

Airport Group del Pacífico (GAP) reduced its passenger traffic 0.2% in December compared to the same month of 2019, a comparison that removes the effect of the pandemic.

The setback is the first in the biannual comparison of the last four months, as the company had since September managed to exceed its flow of users prior to the health contingency.

In the year-on-year comparison, the company raised its traffic levels 58.8% in December due to the comparison base distorted by the fall in human mobility as of March 2020.

The driver of traffic was the national section, which last month advanced 7.1% against 2019, its second advance in the year. However, it was insufficient to offset the 8.1% drop in the flow of international users.

The highest increases in total traffic compared to the pre-pandemic level were registered in Tijuana (18.9%), Los Mochis (16.4%) and Aguascalientes (11.9%). For the full year, GAP reported a total traffic drop of 11.8% versus 2019, or an increase of 57.1% if contrasted with 2020.
