The provincial government announced Tuesday that all households in Quebec will have access to high-speed Internet service by September 30, 2022.

The promise was made when the Legault government launched the third phase of its province-wide campaign to provide high-speed access to all of Quebec.

Dubbed Éclair III, the last phase has a budget of $ 150 million and will target between 15,000 and 30,000 residences, either isolated or not originally included in the earlier phases of the project.

So far, the province has invested $ 1.3 billion to accelerate high-speed Internet access. Agreements have been reached with the federal government in an effort to have 99 percent of the province connected with high-speed access.

The first two phases of the operation began in March and July. Éclair I targeted 148,000 households and represented an investment of just over $ 825 million from Ottawa and Quebec. Éclair II brought high-speed access to 18,200 homes and cost about $ 95 million.
