‘How about them Leafs though?’ Justin Bieber roasts his own Montreal fans over Habs’ poor season

Justin Bieber, longtime Toronto Maple Leafs fan, world famous pop star and close friend of Auston Matthews, performed to thousands of fans at the Bell Center in Montreal on Tuesday night. But it wasn’t all cheers.

Actually, at one point there were jeans. And boos.

“I’ve had a great night with you guys tonight,” Bieber told the screaming crowd toward the end of his set. “But how about them Leafs though, huh?”

Then the mood turned sour. And the Biebs doused the flame with a full canister of Leafs-fandom gasoline in the literal house of division rivals the Montreal Canadiens.

“Auston Matthews is really doing some work here in Montreal,” Bieber continued as boos rained down upon him. “So, uh, how’s that playoff spot looking for you guys this year?”

Despite a shocking and unexpected trip to the Stanley Cup Finals last season, the Montreal Canadiens’ 2021-22 season has been far from pleasant. After a number of injuries and significant front-office personnel changes, the Canadiens currently sit last place in the Atlantic Division and second-last place in the league with less than a month to go in the regular season.

But the crowd wouldn’t let Bieber get away with it. A roaring “Go Habs Go” chant started and put an end to Bieber’s antics.

“It’s not fair, I’m outnumbered,” he laughed.

It’s no secret Bieber is a massive Maple Leafs fan. Last week, the team unveiled a special edition jersey designed in partnership with Drew House, his fashion label. The pop star also attended the game where the Leafs donned the new jersey, a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.
