Floods have hit the Krasnodar region in Russia since Saturday, the result of heavy rainfall. According to the regional governor, the equivalent of a year of rain fell in 1 day in this sector.
1,500 people had to be evacuated, including 1,000 children from summer camps. The floods damaged 1,400 homes, while 108,000 residents were left without power. A state of emergency has been declared in 14 localities.
Traffic was even interrupted on the highway between Novorossiysk and the town of Kerch, Crimea, before being restored.
Heavy rains are still expected in the coming days, authorities said.
