The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit on Friday reported the COVID-related deaths of a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 80s. They both lived in the general community.
To date, the region has lost 508 people to the disease.
The health unit also reported 104 COVID-positive patients in area hospitals. Seventeen COVID patients are in intensive care.
Outbreaks have been declared in 29 community settings, 24 nursing and long-term care homes, and eight workplaces.

Windsor Regional Hospital is dealing with outbreaks in four units on the Ouellette campus, and Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare has outbreaks in two units.
The health unit also reported 270 new cases of COVID-19. However, due to testing capacity constraints, the case count is “an underestimate of the actual number of people” infected in the region.
