Family-based child care…outside the home

As part of a pilot project, Quebec will allow family child care centers to set up outside private residences to encourage the creation of new places, learned The newspaper.

In fact, many family child care centers have closed since 2015, leaving thousands of parents without a place for their offspring.

During public consultations on Bill 1, aimed at completing the network of childcare services, workers expressed their isolation and the loneliness that sometimes comes with the profession of home childcare provider.

From now on, they will be able to group together to work in teams of two. Moreover, up to four workers will be authorized to join forces to offer daycare with extended hours, at the rate of two RSGs per period of call.
