Death in an emergency room: “We could avoid this death”


A man died in the emergency room after waiting 1:40 a.m. in the hospital emergency room, even though the person came by ambulance.

“No, in reality when you arrive by ambulance or on foot does not de facto guarantee that the person is treated as a priority,” says Richard Fournier, president of the Mauricie ambulance cooperative union.

He said, however, that the paramedics proceeded without the sirens because the person’s vital signs were normal.

A preventable death

Richard Fournier feels anger at this death which he considers avoidable.

“We feel frustration, because we could avoid this death,” he adds.

In addition, last week, with his comrades, they denounced the waiting time in hospitals.
