Facebook reveals standalone Oculus Quest 2 VR headset with improved screen resolution

Facebook unveiled the Oculus Quest 2 during the tech giant's Facebook Connect conference (formerly called Oculus Connect). While Quest 2 looks very similar to its predecessor at first, it has received several welcome updates, including a 50 percent higher resolution display with 1832 x 1920 pixels and support for a 90Hz refresh rate. For comparison, the original Quest featured two 1440 x 1600 pixel displays. It's important to note that Oculus says that the 90Hz refresh rate will not be available at launch and will arrive in a future update. When Oculus Quest 2 launches, it will feature a less-than-ideal 72Hz display, Facebook says. Also, the handset has ditched OLED for slightly faster LCD screens.
