LG announces Tone Free FN7 self-cleaning noise-canceling headphones

Earlier this year, LG announced the Tone Free FN6, a pair of self-cleaning buttons, but now the South Korean company is launching the successor to the headphones, the Free tone FN7. However, this time around, the self-cleaning headphones also feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Like its predecessor, the FN7's housing uses UV-C light to kill bacteria. Beyond the addition of ANC, the FN7s have a battery life of five hours with the function on and seven hours with it off. Furthermore, the case also has USB-C and wireless charging. The FN7 uses three microphones in each earpiece to neutralize external sounds. Each microphone also monitors sound waves from all directions.LG says the FN7's ear gels offer rotary-fit Vortex Ribs...

LG TONE Free HBS-FN6 Review

Wireless headphones are no longer a luxury item. More models have been cutting the wires and popping up every day. LG's TONE Free HBS-FN6 wireless headphones join the ranks with a unique feature that may speak to many, as cleaning and sanitation have been on our minds all year long. You've probably walked down the street and noticed the little black or white buttons in someone's ear, which provide stable audio anyway. The TONE Free does just that, but it also works overtime while in its case. LG and Meridian have teamed up to develop a wireless audio device with a UVnano housing, capable of killing 99.9 percent of bacteria. The selling point of these Bluetooth headphones may not be the UV charging case. However, launching during the year when the entire world population is...

What is a flagship and how much should it cost?

Almost all smartphone makers release what they call "flagship" phones, but there is more than one definition for the term. For example, Samsung's Galaxy S series is usually the company's top-of-the-line smartphone at the beginning of the year, but then in August it launches its Note series devices, which are also flagship products. Also, TCL calls its 10 Pro smartphone its flagship and Google has its Pixel 5. Flagship phones are usually the best of the best, offering a top-of-the-line premium processor, lots of RAM, and more. In 2020, these premium smartphones sported a Snapdragon 865 or 865+ processor and generally offered at least 8GB of RAM. While Samsung's S series and Note series fit this description, TCL's 10 Pro that has a Snapdragon 600 series processor and the Pixel 5 wi...

LG Velvet review: Everything is better in pink

The LG Velvet is my favorite phone the company has released in years, and it isn't even a flagship device. Everything from the design to its pink colorway and responsive performance make wearing Velvet a pleasure. Don't get me wrong, it's not even perfect, but it might be the perfect smartphone for some Canadians given its reasonable price. Note that the Velvet features a mid-range Snapdragon 765G processor, which technically means it shouldn't be compared to flagship devices like the Samsung Galaxy S20, Motorola Edge +, or even the LG V60 Dual Screen, but in Canada, currently not. there is no device. I like it, but the Pixel 5 will feature the same mid-range 5G processor. At Freedom Mobile, you can get the Velvet for $ 600 CAD directly. In an industry saturated with a variety...

LG Tone Free Wireless Headphones Now Available in Canada

LG has announced that its latest headphones, the LG Tone Free, are now available in Canada. These are the company's first truly wireless earbuds, and the flagship model (HBS-FN6) sports a UVnano charging case, which is perfect for the times we find ourselves in. When the headphones are in the case, UV rays kill 99.9 percent of bacteria on the part of the buttons closest to the inner ear. The case will do this in 10 minutes, LG says. The case offers 18 hours of battery life, but it's unclear how long the Ton Free buttons last on their own. The headphones are also IPX4 protected against splashing water, rain and perspiration. Additionally, the Tone Free also includes technology developed by Meridien, a UK-based company that specia...

With the OLED CX, LG struggles to improve its already stellar televisions

If you want the best type of TV and money is no problem, you need to get an OLED, and LG does its best. This year I spent time with a 55-inch LG CX, and just like last year's phenomenal C9, it blew my mind with its stunning colors and deep blacks. I'm still not the biggest fan of WebOS, but it works fine and if it were a big problem I could always plug in an Apple TV or FireTV and not worry about the TV's operating system. As with most modern technology, it is getting harder and harder to improve on the models of the past few years because, if you haven't noticed, there are now plenty of awesome gadgets and devices. LG seems to have fallen into the same trap with the CX. There are some minor improvements that some people will enjoy. Still, for the average TV viewer, any LG OLEDs fr...

LG to Supply 20 Million Additional OLED Display Panels for iPhone 12 Lineup

A new report says that the supply of Apple’s iPhone 12 panels “heralds a new era of competition in OLED.” Apple is expected to use OLED screens across its entire iPhone 12 lineup this year. The company has been sourcing OLED panels primarily from Samsung over the last few years, but this time around, it has increased its reliance on LG Display. According to a new report from Nikkei, most of the additional demand for OLED panels from Apple will be fulfilled by LG Display. The struggling display maker is expected to supply Apple with 20 million OLED panels this year, up five times from its total order quantity last year. “We plan for our dedicated smartphone OLED panel factory in Paju to operate at full capacity,” said Suh Dong-hee, LG Display’s chief financial officer. The incr...
