CAMe lifts environmental contingency in the Valley of Mexico


The Megalopolis Environmental Commission (CAMe) lifted the atmospheric environmental contingency in the Valley of Mexico area this Wednesday afternoon.

The Executive Coordination of the CAMe lifted the environmental contingency in Mexico City and the State of Mexico after concentrations of less than 155ppb were recorded and a favorable weather and air quality forecast for tomorrow.

CAMe activated the environmental contingency on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 7, after a maximum ozone concentration of 156 ppb was recorded at the Santa Fe monitoring station of the Álvaro Obregón mayor’s office in Mexico City.

During this Wednesday, light to moderate atmospheric stability, intermittent solar radiation and a wind field with light speed prevailed, according to data from the Mexico City Air Quality Monitoring System.

Around 2:00 p.m., the highest point was recorded with 114 ppb at the Tlalnepantla station, in the northwest of the ZMVM.

The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis reported that it is keeping an eye on the evolution of air quality and weather conditions

He also made the following recommendations:

  • Reduce car use.
  • Facilitate and continue remote work to reduce travel and online shopping and errands to reduce travel.
  • Avoid the use of flavorings, aerosols, paints, waterproofing or products that contain solvents.
  • Refuel after 6:00 p.m. and before 10:00 a.m.; do not add more fuel after the filler gun lock is released.
  • Check and repair leaks in domestic gas installations.
  • Reduce the use of fuels at home, shortening the shower time to a maximum of five minutes and when cooking, use containers with lids.
