The auto parts industry The Mexican company broke a production record in March 2022, while investments continue to land in our country, mainly from Asia, which consolidates Mexico’s presence in the North American region, said Alberto Bustamante, director of the National Auto Parts Industry (INA).

During the third month of 2022, the value of the production of parts and components in Mexico was 9,358 million dollars, increasing 9% compared to the same month in 2021, and 11% more compared to 2019 (prior to the Covid pandemic -19), as a result of four factors: USMCAtrade between the United States and other nations, the trade war between the United States and China, and the arrival of new investments.

With these positive results, the INA made an upward adjustment to its forecasts at the end of 2022, and estimate an increase of 7.6% more compared to 2021, to reach the factoring of 102,000 million dollars.

In a virtual press conference, the director of the INA highlighted the arrival of foreign investment in our country. New Lion leads the raising of capital at 30%, followed by chihuahua with 28.9%, Guanajuato 10.1%; Coahuila 7.9%, 5.7% to Tamaulipas and 4.4% to San Luis Potosi.

He said that the fact that the United States has imposed a 25% tariff on imports from China, has displaced merchandise from the East in the North American market and that it presents itself as an opportunity for Mexico in the matter of attracting investments from Asian companies. suppliers to the automotive industry.

The implementation of the rules of origin in the auto parts sector, as stipulated in the Mexico, United States, Canada (USMCA) play an important role in increasing the value of production, by raising the regional content. “For each vehicle there is an increase of 12.5%, of the light ones 10% and in the case of auto parts in three sections: the core parts 75%, that is to say from 60 to 75%, there is an opportunity of 15% there; in the case of the main auto parts, it is increased by 10% and the complementary ones by 5% for each auto part. This sum gives us an exponential increase”, he explained.

Bustamante said that another relevant factor is the free trade agreements made by the US, since for each vehicle it manufactures it has more than 5,000 dollars worth of parts made in Mexico.

For its part, the INA announced that it is preparing the face-to-face celebration of the 24th edition of the INA PAACE Automechanika Mexico 2022the leading auto parts exhibition whose inauguration will take place on July 13, at the Citibanamex Center.
