In its new hulu documentary “Life in Pink”, kelly machine gun opens up about a dark mental health episode she recently went through.
“Life in Pink”, now in streaming, offers a “an in-depth look at the dramatic ups and downs” the platinum-selling rap rocker has cruised while “chasing the top music spot,” according to Hulu’s official website.
At one point in the film, Kelly (real name Colson Baker) goes into heartbreaking detail about the toll her father’s death took on her mental health. The singer of “My ex’s best friend” said that his father died the same day as his fourth album “Hotel Devil” fell in July 2019.
“I flew over to my dad’s apartment to clean all this up. I had a really weird interaction with this neighbor who told me all these things I didn’t want to hear,” Kelly recalled. “That (ruined me) even more because I couldn’t close it. I wouldn’t leave my room and it started to get very, very, very dark.”

Kelly said her inner turmoil culminated in a tense conversation with her fiancée. Megan foxwho was his girlfriend at the time.
“Megan went to Bulgaria to shoot a movie and I started getting really wildly paranoid. I kept getting paranoid that someone was going to come and kill me,” Kelly said. “I always slept with a shotgun next to my bed, and one of the days, I just (expletive) blew up.
“I called Megan and said, ‘You’re not here for me.’ I’m in my room, and I’m like freaking out on her and man, I put the shotgun in my mouth and I’m yelling into the phone and the barrel is in my mouth. I’m going to cock the shotgun and the bullet. when it goes back up, the shell just gets stuck. Megan is like dead silent.”
The 32-year-old singer said the intense episode, along with the conversations he had with Fox and his 12-year-old daughter Casie, was a wake-up call for him “to really get off drugs this time.”
“(Fox and Casie) simultaneously came to me with this, like, ‘I want to be able to see into your eyes. I don’t want to be talking to you through a veil anymore. I want to see you as my father and I want to see you as my future husband,'” Kelly remembered.

Kelly has previously spoken out about her history of drug use, telling Dave Franco in a 2020 Interview magazine discussion that therapy helped him address the “intense” dichotomy of his artistic character Machine Gun Kelly and his personal identity.
“Currently, my drug of choice is happiness and commitment to art, rather than commitment to a vice that I thought made art,” Kelly told Franco at the time.
