Through a release, the minister said: “The funding will enable the development and implementation of a new chat service accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The objective will be to offer support, information and referrals to victims as well as to their loved ones thanks to a new technological solution. This will be a quick and confidential way for victims to speak to stakeholders in order to obtain the necessary assistance.”

The online chat service, which is to be implemented in the fall of 2023, will complement the national resource line already administered by the Montreal Center for Sexual Assault Victims. It is accessible at all times, anywhere in Quebec, by calling 1-888-933-9007.
