STUNAM will renew its union leadership with the participation of 28,000 workers


The Workers’ Union of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (STUNAM) will renew its union leadership -both the general secretariat and the Executive Committee-, for which it began with the voting process -during four days- in which around 28,000 workers participate.

After the death of the union leader, Agustín Rodríguez, the red list decided to put Carlos Hugo Morales as a candidate, who has been part of the Committee of the STUNAM with Rodriguez.

According to data from Federal Center for Labor Conciliation, on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of April, the surveillance personnel have voted; while this Monday the 25th and Tuesday the 26th the common members of STUNAM will vote.

“The CFCRL, together with the STPS, will be in charge of verifying that almost twenty-six thousand affiliates that said union groups vote personally, freely, secretly and directly in 237 voting points that STUNAM will install for said vote,” the Labor Center reported. Federal.

Likewise, the form was enabled to receive complaints and disagreements. Through this electronic medium, the workers of the STUNAM may report any violation of their right to cast their personal, free, secret and direct vote.

In this regard, the secretary of Labor and Social Welfare, Luisa María Alcalde, said that “democracy is everyone’s business,” and called on the 28,000 workers to carry out the election process in accordance with the principles of “freedom and Democracy, with personal, free and secret vote” Implementation of the labor reform advances

On the other hand, the Federal Labor Center reported that with the new model of labor justice, there are already more than 115,000 labor disputes resolved through conciliation, in the 21 states where it already operates; In addition, more than 7,000 monthly reconciliations are carried out.

In the framework of the Second Ordinary Session of the Coordination Council, it was also reported that 75% of the conflicts between employers and workers are reconciled, and of these, 78% end before 25 days.

According to Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration (CFCRL), from November 2020 to March 2022, 27,281 individual conciliations were carried out at the federal level.

While, at the local level, in the conciliation centers of the 21 states where the New Model of Labor Justice already operates, they reported, as a whole, the resolution of 87,759 issues through the agreement between the parties.

Next October, the remaining 11 entities will be added, which are: Chihuahua, Mexico City, Coahuila, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas and Yucatán.
