Sanitary measures: “everyone is tired”, says a psychologist

People are exhausted from sanitary measures and the demonstrations in several cities across Canada are proof of this, says a psychologist.

“There are several groups, but one thing is certain is that even the people who are not going to demonstrate, everyone is fed up with security measures. I think people are calling for the end of sanitary measures because they are fed up. I don’t think it can happen, but at the same time it’s a way for them to express themselves and tell the government that’s enough, ”said Paul Langevin.

He believes that the very cold winter and the tightening of measures a few weeks ago contributed to this pandemic fatigue.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a single person after two years not be fed up with the measures,” he added.

According to the psychologist, the arrival of spring could help the population get through this last wave.

However, he explains that some of his customers are happy that there are sanitary measures: “They are still afraid of getting COVID-19, they are not reassured. We have the elderly, for example. We also have the other side of the coin where people think they have done enough.

On the ground, it is the same observation.

“It’s sure that nobody likes the pandemic because we can’t go out anywhere,” said a citizen.

“The decisions taken by the authorities, I believe it is with a view to protecting the population,” said another resident.

“Nor should we put people in danger because we are fed up. I don’t think it’s that much of an effort to wash your hands and wear a mask,” said a young man.
